Lawyer tells Akeredolu to resign right away.
Allen Sowore, a human rights lawyer, has urged the Ondo State House of Assembly to utilize the theory of necessity in order to secure the resignation of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

Sowore suggested that the utilization of the constitutional provision, previously employed during the tenure of late President Umaru Yar'Adua, may potentially offer a resolution to the present political crisis in the state.

As to his account, subsequent to Akeredolu's three-month medical leave, his presence has not been observed within the state. Meanwhile, his deputy, who is currently facing challenges, has also been absent from the state in order to avoid potential impeachment by the Assembly.

The attorney, in a statement provided to The Guardian under the title "Ondo Political Quagmire: Time to Invoke Doctrine of Necessity is Now!", asserts that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu's clandestine scheme to impeach his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has unequivocally failed. This conclusion is drawn in accordance with the stipulations outlined in Section 188 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), and after adhering to the requisite processes, procedures, and proceedings.

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu's prolonged absence and unavailability from April 3rd, 2023, has resulted in a lack of governance and direction inside the state. The recent orchestrated repatriation from Germany and subsequent submission of a letter of resumption to the Speaker of the State House of Assembly have brought to light the difficulties that the influential group has been concealing from the public. Since the commencement of this well planned and coordinated reentry, there has been a conspicuous absence of any sightings or communication from the governor within the state.

Therefore, it is essential and in the best interest of the nation for the State House of Assembly to effectively employ and exercise the diverse provisions outlined in the Constitution.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Richard Olatunde, underscored in his response that the governor's location has not hindered the administration of the state.

The individual made a claim that the government is not only functioning at its full capacity, but is also actively facilitating the advancement of the state.

According to Olatunde, the act of sensationalizing the governor's whereabouts is deemed superfluous, as he encourages individuals to direct their attention towards the tangible accomplishments being accomplished within the state.
