According to the Lagos State Government, it would shut down businesses that are generating environmental annoyance in the state, as well as bars, churches, clubs, and mosques.


On Tuesday in Lagos, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, the commissioner for the environment and water resources, revealed this.


Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, the recently appointed general manager of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), and the agency's directors were present at the management meeting where Wahab was speaking.


In accordance with global best practices, he advised the management team of LASEPA to examine its operational plans.


Wahab stated, "I gave them the assignment to assess their operational strategy in accordance with recognized global best practices.


"I have also ordered the zonal directors, monitoring and enforcement units to start strict enforcement and advocacy by closing any public venue (bars, churches, clubs, mosques, companies, among others) generating environmental nuisance throughout the state.


The Lagos State Environmental Management Protection Law is being complied with by this.
