Kwankwaso visits the Kano government residence after eight years and hosts a mass wedding celebration.
Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), reentered the Kano Government House Wednesday, eight years after concluding his second term as governor of Kano State.

Kwankwaso, who faced a hindrance in visiting Kano for approximately three years during his tenure as Senator representing Kano central metropolis due to a strained relationship with his former political protege and ex-governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, made a triumphant arrival amidst enthusiastic cheers from a large crowd of loyal supporters.

Kwankwaso, accompanied by his vice presidential candidate, Bishop Isaac Idahosa, and other notable individuals, attended the government house to observe the vibrant celebration of the state-funded mass wedding, which involved 3,600 couples.

The leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement expressed appreciation towards the Kano state government for upholding his legacy, which focuses on promoting social harmony and fulfilling religious duties for couples facing challenges in consummating their relationship.

Kwankwaso, who acted as a guarantor for the couples, emphasized the importance of viewing the chance as a religious obligation. He advised them to exercise prudence in exposing their new marriage to the potentially alluring realm of social media.

In a previous instance, Bishop Idahosa, who served as the special guest and Kwankwaso's running-mate in the presidential election held in February, expressed appreciation towards the NNPP government for including Christian residents as beneficiaries of the state-sponsored mass wedding program.

The Bishop argued that the benevolent action of the state government serves as more evidence of its ability to exhibit tolerance and compassion without being influenced by religious or ethnic biases. The individual sought divine intervention in order to get a favorable outcome for Governor Abba Kabiru Yusuf in the appeal process of the gubernatorial election.

Governor Yusuf expressed his satisfaction at the successful implementation of the Mass Wedding, emphasizing that it was a significant accomplishment in line with his electoral commitments. Governor Yusuf asserted that his government has assumed complete accountability for the acquisition of wedding necessities, encompassing furniture, dowries, traditional garments, and the supply of a N20,000 grant to each couple as initial capital for small-scale entrepreneurial endeavors.

The Director General of the Kano Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, provided clarification that a total of 1,536 couples, who obtained a clean bill of health, participated in the initial group, while 2,500 couples were excluded due to medical complications.
