Kogi APC asks security agencies to ensure that dead supporters receive justice
The Kogi State All Progressives Congress Governorship Campaign Council has urged security agencies to apprehend the individuals accountable for the regrettable homicide of an innocent female supporter of the party in Kotonkarfe Local Government Area of Kogi State. It is imperative that these individuals be held accountable for their actions as a means of discouraging future criminal activities.

In expressing condolences to the bereaved family, as well as the residents of Kotonkarfe and the wider community of Kogites, the Campaign Council has asserted that the Social Democratic Party rally, during which the woman was purportedly killed by individuals affiliated with the Governorship Candidate, constituted a malevolent and premeditated attack on the peaceable inhabitants of Kotonkarfe.

During the first press briefing of the Campaign Council, Kingsley Fanwo, the Director of Media and Publicity/Spokesman, emphasized that individuals who have made threats to kill and then carried out such acts have effectively initiated hostilities against the Nigerian state. Consequently, they should be held accountable under the legal framework.

According to the speaker, the APC candidate, Usman Ododo, has consistently demonstrated a strong dedication to a campaign centered on substantive matters, free from any kind of violence, ethnocentric rhetoric, or divisive inclinations. In contrast, the campaign conducted by the SDP candidate, Muritala Yakubu, has been characterized by divisive tactics and incitement.

The Campaign Council has observed that Yakubu's utterances have been characterized by a lack of caution, provocation, and harshness. Both the security authorities and concerned individuals in Nigeria have acknowledged this.

The Council, however, urged supporters of the APC to maintain composure, emphasizing its confidence in the security agencies' commitment to ensuring that perpetrators of violence are held accountable.

The Kogi All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council has encouraged the public to conduct independent polls to assess the capabilities of the candidates vying for the governorship position in the state. They argue that an impartial poll would demonstrate that the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, especially when compared to other contenders from Igala region, is not among the leading candidates.

According to the Council, the residents of Igala land have observed the individual's actions and have concluded that he does not possess the necessary intellectual aptitude to effectively represent them. Consequently, they choose to support candidates who demonstrate a sense of responsibility.

According to Fanwo, it is anticipated that the candidate representing the SDP would face a resounding defeat in the upcoming elections and will afterwards be required to provide an explanation for the claimed transgressions categorized as "sins against humanity."

The Council expressed that the initial statement made by the Police authorities has provided a sense of reassurance. It is imperative to ensure that the soul of the deceased receives due justice. The present circumstances necessitate that the residents of Kogi State take decisive action to address the aggressive and exploitative tactics employed by the Social Democratic Party (SDP). The outcome of elections is determined by the casting of votes rather than resorting to violent means. Despite encountering blatant provocation, our political party and campaign will maintain a nonviolent approach and adhere to the established rules of engagement.

The remarks made by Alh. Muritala Yakubu Ajaka, the candidate of the SDP, during a televised appearance, have attracted attention due to their unguarded, provocative, and caustic nature. The aspect that is particularly astonishing to us is the manner in which he manages to evade consequences following his derogatory characterization of an entire ethnic community as "a shared adversary." Additionally, he expressed their preparedness to engage in acts of violence.

The statements and behaviors exhibited by the individual in question are not in accordance with the provisions outlined in the Electoral Law. It can be reasonably assumed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other pertinent institutions have duly acknowledged this matter.

The candidate's political campaign has been characterized by its divisive nature and its tendency to incite conflict. However, he consistently presents himself as a victim, propagating the notion that he is being actively pursued. They engage in overt criminal activities and thereafter adopt the role of victims.

The lack of communication from law enforcement institutions has empowered him to commit a violent act against an innocent victim. The individual's profound sense of despair in light of the imminent threat of public embarrassment during the electoral process has unquestionably placed him in an exceedingly precarious predicament. The perception of Muritala Yakubu's potential for success is primarily held by himself and the others he associates with, who may be characterized as a group of individuals engaging in criminal activities.

If a poll were to be conducted in Kogi State, including Igaland, it would reveal that the individual in question does not rank among the top two contenders for the upcoming governorship race. The rationale behind this decision is in the observation made by the residents of Igaland, who have closely monitored the individual's actions and have determined that his intellectual abilities are insufficient to adequately represent their interests. Consequently, they choose to support candidates who demonstrate a greater sense of responsibility.

He does not even come close to being included in the list of potential candidates. The individual in question is expected to face a resounding defeat in the upcoming election, and it is anticipated that he will be held accountable for his actions that have caused harm to humanity.

Fanwo (2021) further highlighted that the Council has taken notice of appeals, made by individuals he referred to as paid individuals, for the Director General of the Campaign Council to step down from his position, citing reasons of division.

According to the user, the Director-General of the Campaign Council, Prince Shaibu Abubakar Audu, has expressed his dedication to conducting a campaign that will facilitate the advent of the Ododo period characterized by consolidation and continuity.

The politically astute Minister of Steel Development, HM Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, remains focused on the significant responsibility at hand, regardless of any attempts to divert attention through ethnic rhetoric. The deceased individual, Prince Abubakar Audu, demonstrated a strong dedication towards fostering unity, prosperity, and peace within the state of Kogi. The individual expressed that the Director General is merely emulating the actions of his predecessor.
