Kano court condemns drug lord to ten years in prison
Justice Simon Amobeda, a presiding judge at the Federal High Court in Kano, has imposed a fine on Muhammad Bako Sambo, a well-known drug trafficker, after finding him guilty of a criminal offense. Additionally, the judge has sentenced Sambo to a period of 10 years of incarceration.

Sambo was apprehended by the Kano State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) following the discovery of 201 kilograms of desiccated foliage believed to be Cannabis Sativa in his possession. Consequently, he has been formally charged and is now subject to legal proceedings.

He was one of seven individuals involved in the trafficking of illegal narcotics who were prosecuted and later found guilty following charges brought forth by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). In the year 2020, Sambo was initially apprehended and afterwards discharged by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

According to a statement by Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, the spokesperson for the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano, it has been determined that Sambo is being subjected to the highest possible punishment. This decision aims to act as a deterrent to those individuals involved in illicit drug trafficking.

As per his statement, the commander of the NDLEA has exhibited unwavering determination in eradicating illicit drug operations within the state. Furthermore, the successful prosecution serves as a conspicuous warning to anyone engaged in the unlawful trafficking and conveyance of cannabis and other prohibited substances to Kano.

According to reports, the individual known as "Sambo" was detained on November 11, 2020. It was alleged that Sambo's activities mostly revolved around the transportation of significant quantities of Cannabis Sativa from regions such as Ondo and other Southern States to the Northern regions.

The operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) who were conducting a patrol along the Kano-Zaria road grew apprehensive and intercepted a Honda Accord vehicle that originally displayed reluctance to halt. The man was apprehended in the Hotoro area of Kano State subsequent to a pursuit.

Further inquiries conducted at the State Headquarters resulted in the detection of 201 kilograms of desiccated foliage believed to be Cannabis Sativa within Sambo's automobile.

The veracity of the suspect's true identity and his place of abode in Lokogoma, Abuja, was subsequently verified.

The material was verified as Cannabis Sativa by laboratory tests, hence strengthening the evidence against Sambo. The individual in question was convicted of engaging in the illegal trade of Cannabis Sativa, which is in direct contravention of the NDLEA Act.
