On October 13, two students from Nkaleke Echara Community Secondary School in Ojiegbe, Simon Ominyi and Moses Nwibo, were killed there.
In a statement released on Monday, the Ebonyi State Government denounced the brutal killings of a school principal and his teacher at the hands of as-yet-unidentified gunmen.
Paul Nwobashi, the commissioner for education, called the incident "sad and condemnable" and stated that the state's security services had been informed and given instructions to find the culprits.
Nwobashi stated that "Governor Francis Nwifuru has been briefed on the situation and has contacted security agencies, particularly the police."
He has urged them to take immediate measures to guarantee that the offenders are apprehended and prosecuted.
The commissioner gave the teachers reassurance that the state government was making efforts to enhance school security.
They ought to be aware that everyone has an interest in security. We are unhappy about it, and the state government is not going to take it lightly," said Nwobashi.
