The appeal was made by religious leaders at a one-day interactive meeting with the management team of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state. The meeting took place in Owerri.
The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Imo State chapter, Reverend Eches Divine Eches, and the Chairman of the Imo State Muslim Council, Prince Bashir Muhammed Uwakwe, along with other individuals, have expressed their commitment to provide assistance in order to ensure that the upcoming gubernatorial election fulfills the aspirations of the populace.
The commendation was also extended to the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Prof. Sylvia Agu, for her diligent efforts in ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted conduct of the electoral process.
Agu previously stated that the Commission had arranged the conference, which included the participation of faith-based groups, as part of their preparations for the next gubernatorial election on November 11 in the state.
