Idris claims that Tinubu's administration does not intend to censor the media.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration has no plans to censor the media, according to Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris.

Idris has added that the Federal Government (FG), under Tinubu's leadership, is dedicated to fostering a climate that allows the press to play its crucial role in society.

He stated that the government will make sure that press freedom was recognized and guaranteed at all times throughout Nigeria.

As part of his tour of the organizations under his ministry, the Minister made the comment on Tuesday while visiting the National Press Council.

In this advanced stage of Nigeria's democratization process, he emphasized the significance of responsible journalism and stressed that press freedom should be exercised in a way that preserves moral principles and encourages responsible reporting.

According to him, the government wants to establish an atmosphere where journalists can perform their duties without undue restrictions because it recognizes the critical role that the press plays in society.

He promised that the press will have the assistance and conducive environment it needed to perform its duties.

The minister stated that while "this administration has no intention of limiting the press, press freedom also comes with responsibility."

While the press should have the freedom to carry out its duties, it's crucial to do it properly.
