In light of the recent nullification ofGovernor Abdullahi Sule's victory by the Nasarawa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, Emmanuel Ombudagu, the candidate representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has urged the governor to accept his defeat and refrain from pursuing an appeal against the tribunal's judgement.


According to Ombudagu, the election mandate bestowed upon him by the constituents of Nasarawa State is beyond criticism.


In a statement, Mike Omeri, the Director of Media and Publicity for the David Umbugadu Campaign Organisation, expressed that the candidate from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) is prepared to collaborate with political adversaries in order to salvage Nasarawa situation from its precarious situation and establish a trajectory towards peace, security, and sustainable development within the region.


Governor Sule was declared the winner of the March 18 election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).


After making the declaration, Ombudagu proceeded to the tribunal with the intention of contesting the outcome of his opponent's triumph.


In the virtual pronouncement of the verdict, Justice Ezekiel Ajayi, the Chairman of the tribunal, officially declared the candidate representing the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Ombugadu, as the duly elected governor of Nasarawa state.


In response to the verdict, Ombudagu expressed that the decision of the tribunal underscores the determination of a diverse range of individuals in Nasarawa State to pursue and obtain justice from those who fraudulently seized and claimed our electoral mandate for themselves.


The individual expressed that the actions exhibited by the people of Nasarawa State will serve to enhance our democratic system and underscore the significance of adhering to the values of fairness and accountability within our electoral procedures.
