The Governor transmitted approximately N215 billion for capital expenditures and over N134 billion for recurring expenditures under the "Budget of Restoration and Transformation" category.
With this authorization, capital expenditures—which accounted for 62% of total spending—are given precedence over recurring expenses, which were allocated 38%.
The approved 2023 budget of N268 billion was less than the whole amount of the requested 2024 appropriation, by more than N82 billion.
When it comes to sectoral allocation, General Administration received N45.1 billion, while Health received N51.4 billion. Education, on the other hand, received the largest proportion, N95 billion, or 29.9%.
Similarly, N40.4 billion was recommended for the development of infrastructure, including housing and works; N13.4 billion was offered for water resources; N11 billion was proposed for security, law, and justice; and N11 billion was proposed for agriculture.
A few weeks after approving the N58 billion 2023 supplemental appropriation, Governor Yusuf unveiled his maiden budget proposal.
