Gov. Sani urges religious leaders to put an end to killings in Kaduna.
The governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, has encouraged the region's religious leaders to put a stop to the state's decades-long bloodletting problem.

According to him, Kaduna has been frequently making headlines for the wrong reasons for a long time.

The governor spoke on Sunday at Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House in Kaduna during an interactive gathering with chosen religious leaders located in the state.

"In certain places, our diversity—which ought to be a source of pride and strength—has turned into a breeding ground for animosity and a protracted outpouring of blood.

"Conflict entrepreneurs have exploited religion for their own selfish interests, leaving the rest of us feeling powerless against this assault on our state," he claimed.

Governor Uba Sani added that communities must band together and create creative, locally-driven ways to combat the ongoing and new patterns of conflict despite the growing difficulties and destroyed livelihoods in some areas.

Building resilience and resistance against banditry, insurgency, terrorism, kidnapping, and other types of criminality should be part of this, he said.

The governor urged religious leaders to take the initiative in restoring confidence in their communities and fostering interfaith communication in order to tear down the barriers of mistrust that exist among the populace.
