Four-member family electrocuted in Taraba

"We believe a power spike was the cause. We had reliable information that a house in Jalingo's Dinyavoh neighborhood was on fire at around 11:00 on Monday.

"Detectives from the GRA Police Division were dispatched to the scene right away. When they arrived, they discovered the four victims suffering from burns that were likely caused by electrocution.

"Remond Ofonbuk, 44, his wife, Mfonbong Remond, 15-year-old Hevean Remond, and 13-year-old First Remond are the victims. According to information we've received, the transformer that served the area blew up right after the power was restored.

Furthermore, "We discovered that many of the neighborhood's homes suffered high electric voltage, which may have contributed to the fire outbreak that resulted in burn injuries for the victims. The victims were swiftly transported to the Federal Medical Centre in Jalingo by our investigators for treatment, but they were declared dead when they got there, he said.

Usman stated that while an investigation was underway to determine the true cause of the tragedy, the bodies had been brought to the hospital's mortuary for autopsies.
