Following a denial, the EFCC acknowledges its presence at Skales' home to apprehend alleged online fraudsters.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has acknowledged its intervention at the residence of a well-known Nigerian musician, John Njeng-Ngeng, well known as Skales, with the intention of apprehending two individuals suspected of engaging in online fraudulent activities. This operation took place at House F10, Victoria Crest 4, located in the Lekki area of Lagos.

According to a statement made by Dele Oyewale, the acting spokesman of the EFCC, the arrest was conducted by operatives of the Lagos Command on Tuesday, October 10th, at the musician's apartment.

The individuals identified as suspects, as stated by Oyewale, include Udemba Chukwuemeka, also known as Jody, and Jamal Jamiu Onasola, also known as Jamal.

According to the individual's statement, the two individuals who are under suspicion for their alleged involvement in a dating fraud referred to Njeng as their "mentor." According to Oyewale, Chukwuemeka has been in Njeng's residence for a duration of two years, whilst Onasola has only occupied the residence for a brief period of a few months.

He further stated that after the investigations are completed, they will be brought before a court of law to face charges.

Previously, when the vocalist made an assertion that certain officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had forcefully entered his residence armed with firearms and hammers, the commission promptly dismissed this allegation as lacking substantiation.

Skales asserted that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrived at his residence accompanied by three armed individuals, as well as others using sticks and hammers. He humorously noted that they forcibly entered his premises by breaking his rear entrance while he was peacefully resting on the bed with his six-month-old daughter. This unexpected intrusion caused him to experience a panic attack due to his pre-existing health concerns. Is this not considered a criminal act?

In his response earlier today, Oyewale asserted that the first point is that invasions are not conducted. Secondly, our organization does not engage in any raid activities. In the context of the third point, it is pertinent to note that there exist certain methodologies and guidelines for discerning the characteristics and attributes of a typical operative affiliated with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

In essence, all of his statements are completely detached from the characteristics typically associated with an EFCC operation.

Oyewale further observed that the aforementioned occurrence may potentially be categorized as an allegation, given the possibility that the individuals involved may have been impersonators of the EFCC, who were freely moving around.

The credibility of claims made by individuals is crucial when assessing their correspondence with the actual circumstances pertaining to the organization in question.

Impersonations are ubiquitously present in many locations. Therefore, they are not. We exhibit a high degree of politeness. According to Oyewale, the aforementioned activities are not within our purview.

Additionally, he urged the vocalist to provide substantiation for his assertions.

I would appreciate it if he could present himself and provide photo or video proof to substantiate the claim that it is related to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), as we do not own any such evidence. Oyewale made an addition.
