Five police officers are summoned after an altercation with a motorist in Ikorodu
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has issued a summons to five officers from the Lagos State Command in response to the altercation they engaged in with a motorist in the Ijede area of Ikorodu on Wednesday.

In an official statement, Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos Police, has stated that the officers assigned to the Area N Command in Ijede, Ikorodu, have been summoned to Abuja.

According to Hundeyin's statement on X (previously Twitter), the group of five individuals, who were under the supervision of an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and stationed in Area N in Ijede, have been recognized and called to the central office for additional scrutiny and appropriate measures.

According to his statement, initial findings indicate that the driver of the red Toyota Corolla, bearing the registration number JJJ685GD, departed from the petrol station while proceeding in the other direction of traffic flow.

According to Hundeyin, the law enforcement officials observed his presence and made an effort to halt his progress. However, upon perceiving the officers, the driver of the Corolla vehicle proceeded to maneuver in a reverse direction, returning to the vicinity of the petrol station.

As to the statement provided by the spokesperson of the Lagos Police, the observed abrasions on the vehicle and fractures on the windshield are purportedly a result of the Corolla colliding with the stationary trailer while in a backward motion.

According to Hundeyin, the five Police officers encountered an agitated crowd during the escalating crisis. In an effort to avoid further confrontation with the highly aroused crowd, the officers decided to depart from the location.

Hundeyin noted that a comprehensive inquiry is under underway to determine the degree of unprofessional conduct exhibited by the police officers involved in the incident.

Furthermore, he urged both the driver of the car and any potential eye witnesses to provide valuable information, either in person or electronically, via the diverse communication methods offered by the police department.

According to Hundeyin, it is said that regular updates regarding the ongoing investigation conducted by the Police will be provided to the general public.
