According to Alhaji Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, President Bola Tinubu is making every effort to lessen the effects and ease the pains associated with the basic reforms being implemented.


Even while the administration awaited the reforms' longer-term benefits, the minister emphasized that the main goal of the changes was to improve the lives of Nigerians.


He remarked that Nigerians ought to realize that President Tinubu was taking the necessary steps to improve everyone's quality of life, both at home and outside.


"A temporary salary increase of N35,000 per month for a period of six months was implemented to raise the federal minimum wage while preventing excessive inflation."


The creation of an Infrastructure Support Fund was also discussed, allowing states to fund vital projects that will foster a business-friendly climate.


"To end the transportation crisis, it has been proposed to launch a N100 billion CNG bus rollout program to deliver CNG-powered buses and establish a Presidential Committee to drive implementation."


The president of Nigeria has issued no less than five executive orders since taking office, all of which are intended to strengthen the country's business and fiscal environments and boost its foreign exchange reserves.


In order to change the tax structure and lessen the tax burden on Nigerians, he added, the government has formed the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform Committee.


Nigerians may be certain that the committee will put its initial batch of reform recommendations into effect after presenting them to the president this week.


Idris stated, "I must stress that one of the committee's main responsibilities is to lessen the tax burdens and complications faced by Nigerians."


The minister claims that the Tinubu administration is wrapping up the procedure for paying 15 million of Nigeria's poorest and most vulnerable households a cash transfer of N25,000 each month for three months.


He clarified that in order to control prices, the president has ordered 200,000 metric tonnes of cereals to be released from strategic stockpiles to households in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.


The minister continued by saying that 225,000 metric tonnes of seedlings, fertilizer, and other inputs were to be distributed to farmers nationwide in accordance with the mandate.


"An access-to-credit program for startups and MSMEs is set to launch shortly, offering one million businesses in Nigeria N50 billion in conditional grants between now and March 2024."


"In keeping with the president's vision of Nigeria becoming a worldwide hub for digital jobs, we have created the 3MTT program, which aims to nurture three million technical talents by 2025.


Since its introduction, about 500,000 applications from all around Nigeria have been received in just two weeks.


"In keeping with the employment goal, we recently introduced the National Talent Export Programme (NATEP), which aims to establish Nigeria as a global hub for business outsourcing by creating one million service-export jobs over the course of the next five years.


In order to support Nigerian researchers and businesses engaged in artificial intelligence, Idris added, "We have also launched the Nigeria Artificial Intelligence Research Scheme."


He continued by explaining that the recently announced Federal Student Loan Program will be implemented by the Tinubu-led administration by January 2024.


Idris emphasized that a few of these initiatives were being carried out or will be carried out in close collaboration with state administrations.


He provided examples of such programs, including the cash transfers, the distribution of food items and grains, and the usage of CNG vehicles.


"These are in addition to the policies and programs that the states are independently implementing."


"We must never lose sight of the fact that the federal and subnational administrations must work together to find solutions to Nigeria's issues.


"As a Federal Government, we will not shirk our duties, but it is equally critical to acknowledge that we are helpless on our own.


As a result of the vital responsibilities that state and local governments play, the president maintains an open door policy toward interacting with them and figuring out how to help them carry out their mandates more successfully.


"The Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Monday saw the approval of several funding packages by the Council, which will provide significant support to several states in order to implement various programs, including adolescent girls' access to education," the statement read.


The minister stated that the federal budget for 2024 was presently at an advanced stage of development.


He also mentioned that the Fiscal Sustainability Paper (FSP) and the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), which serve as the foundation for the budget, were approved by the federal government last week.


"Nigerians can feel secure knowing that the economic well-being and prosperity of all would be the primary emphasis of this, the Tinubu Administration's first Appropriations Act.


"In light of the government's extensive initiatives and dedication, I would like to kindly ask Nigerians to be patient and hopeful that their country will come out of this chapter stronger and more prosperous.


"This nation is ours; we all own it, regardless of who we may have supported in the most recent elections.


"It is our desire to have a nation that accommodates all citizens, regardless of their political, religious, or cultural backgrounds.


"Let us endeavor to set aside our differences, to believe the best about our country, and to support our elected leaders in order to ensure this kind of country that works on all levels for all of its people.


"Let us act honorably and with patriotism, and let our critiques be constructive."


Idris declared, "We will keep trying to increase the credibility of public information and communication and help citizens regain their faith in the procedures and methods of government."
