The CRDW expressed trust in the judiciary to eschew the nefarious plots of those determined to frustrate the decision of the electorate in a statement by its National Coordinator, Mr. Godswill Udoak.
The group encouraged Dr. Ben Ayade, the state's former governor, to concede loss in both the Tribunal and the senatorial election on February 25, 2023.
The ex-governor appealed the Election Petition Tribunal's decision upholding Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe's election as the senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, claiming he had intercepted credible intelligence about a new attempt by anti-democratic forces to influence the Court of Appeal's decision in his favor.
Concerning what it called the "sudden romance" between Senator Ayade and Alhaji Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), CRDW expressed its alarm.
We made the bold statement that such a move would not prevent the former Governor from also losing at the Court of Appeal because "we have noted the peculiar political philandering between the National Chairman of the APC and Senator Ayade who was roundly rejected at the polls by our people in the previous election.
"How can he expect us to send him to the Senate to represent us when he failed us as Governor? when someone as accomplished as Senator Jarigbe is in office?" The collective said
