Contests are held at the eye center to celebrate milestones.A number of activities were held to commemorate Viewpoint Specialist Eye Center's tenth anniversary, including an essay contest for pupils at Baptist High School in Obanikoro, Lagos.

The goal of the essay competition was to encourage secondary school pupils to read and use the English language. The second in a series of annual essay competitions in public secondary schools in Lagos was sponsored by the family of renowned English scholar and author of the Brighter Grammar series, the late Phebean Ogundipe, according to the center's chief executive officer and founding director, Dr. Agatha Afolabi.

The contest judges, according to her, were a group of specialists from the ophthalmic group practice and other pertinent organizations. According to her, "The Ogundipe family also donated books and educational equipment to the junior and senior categories of the school to facilitate the teaching and learning of English Language in schools."

titled Artificial Intelligence in Eye Care was also part of the festivities. Prof. Bola Adekoya, a specialist in ophthalmology at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, Lagos, defined artificial intelligence as the theory and advancement of computer systems to carry out tasks typically requiring human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and language translation.

Mr. David Sauta, chairman of Viewpoint Specialist Eye Center, urged aspiring ophthalmologists to devote more resources to educating the next generation about the value and knowledge of eye care services, as doing so can enhance their vision in general.
