Cartel hitman accidentally kills own boss before "turning the gun on himself"
In a frightening case of mistaken identity, drug cartel hit squad apparently killed their own boss.

The shootout happened on Thursday, September 28, at a private medical facility in Culiacán, Mexico.

Gunmen from the Sinaloa Cartel who support Los Chapitos, the notorious drug lord Joaqun 'El Chapo' Guzmán's kids, are rumored to have been at the hospital watching over another man receiving care.

Another armed man arrived, sparking a shooting. El Blog del Narco claims that person was the enigmatic "El 22," who is believed to have been the gangster in charge of overseeing the operations of the cartel in Guamchil, Sinaloa.

The source said, "That's the bad thing about not knowing the boss." El 22 is believed to have gone to the clinic to pay for the injured man's surgery. The assailants believed he was a rival hitman going to kill the wounded man.

Dr. Otniel Montoya, who was caught in the crossfire, was one of the four casualties of the combat.

When the combat was over, one of the hitmen who killed his own boss needed medical attention. After realizing his deadly error, he reportedly used a gun on himself, deciding to kill himself rather than suffer the horrifying punishment the cartel would have planned for him.

Since then, videos have appeared on social media claiming to be of El 22's funeral. Alongside the names of El Chapo's sons, who were paying tribute, are floral arrangements in them.
