According to locals, the attack took place Sunday afternoon as the victims were traveling from Naka, the Gwer West LGA's administrative center, to the remote Agagbe hamlet.
Locals claimed that one person was killed during the attack on the victims, who were mostly internally displaced people (IDPs), close to Tse-Awunah.
In a phone call with our correspondent yesterday, Ibaah Terna Jacob, the head of the Agagbe IDP Camp, identified the victim of the attack as Atakpa Ezekiel.
Agagbe Saaondo, Iorgbuusu Bem, Ugwu Arinze Chukwu, and Awuhe Jacob were also named as the injured.
When contacted, SP Catherine Anene, the state's Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), just texted back, "I will comment on the Agagbe incident later. I'm occupied somewhere.
