APC rejects allegations made against Matawalle at Zamfara Cargo Airport
The All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in Zamfara has denounced what it called malicious accusations made against the state's most recent administration, led by former governor Bello Matawalle, regarding the Gusau Cargo Airport project.

The state government, led by Governor Dauda Lawal, reportedly recently accused Matawalle's administration of allegedly embezzling public monies in the project, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Malam Yusuf Idris, the State APC Public Secretary, referred to the accusations as unfounded in a statement that was released in Gusau on Saturday.

Idris urged the current PDP-led administration to check its records and put things into proper perspective.

"The PDP-led government should provide the public with accurate information regarding the ongoing Zamfara Cargo Airport project," Idris remarked.

"Government is a never-ending process; allow the state's current administration to clarify the real positions on the project.

"We are all aware that the project made significant progress before Matawalle left office."

The state APC leadership bemoaned the fact that, "surprisingly and unfortunately," the state's current PDP administration claimed that only 19% of the state's goals had been met.

Idris stated, "The state APC leadership is therefore calling on the PDP-led government to focus on addressing the prevailing security challenges bedevilling the state instead of creating unnecessary allegations to divert public attention."

Matawalle is currently serving as the Minister of State for Defense, according to NAN.
