Anambra won't be recognized as the best-performing state by WAEC for the 2023 WASSCE.
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially distanced itself from a story circulating on social media, which asserts that Abia State has been designated as the top-performing state in Nigeria's WASSCE for School Candidates in the year 2023.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Moyosola Adesina, the spokesperson for the West African tests Council (WAEC), refuted the claims made in the newspaper, asserting that they are inaccurate. Adesina further clarified that the council does not engage in the practice of evaluating and ranking the performance of states in its tests.

To clarify, it should be noted that the West African Examinations Council does not assign a hierarchical ranking to the performance of different states in its examinations. "This statement has consistently been articulated by Adesina," Adesina affirmed.

Adesina further cautioned the general public against placing any credence in media outlets disseminating inaccurate information, characterizing them as "deceptive platforms that thrive on contentious issues, driven solely by political motives."

The individuals in question are making an unsuccessful attempt to involve the Council in political matters, so tarnishing its reputation and aiming to create discord among the states vying for dominance.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially said that it has not yet made a determination regarding the most suitable candidate(s) for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates in the year 2023. Any information suggesting otherwise should be dismissed as inaccurate.

The Council, therefore, advised the general public to exercise caution over the dissemination of such misleading material.
