Ahmadu Fintiri as governor of Adamawa is confirmed by the tribunal, which dismisses the SDP suit.
The Adamawa Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Yola, on Monday, upheld the election of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Dr. Umar Ardo, a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), along with his political party, lodged a legal challenge against the electoral triumph of Fintiri. Their allegations centered on claims of corrupt practices, as well as the presence of threats and violence during the election process.

Ardo, along with 16 other individuals, including members of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), were named as respondents in the election case. Ardo subsequently requested the tribunal to declare the entire electoral process null and void.

However, the petition was deemed lacking in quality, faulty, and incompetent by Justice Theodora Uloho, the chairman of the three-member tribunal.

The petition exhibits incongruity and lacks adequate initiation before the tribunal. The declarant noted that the petitioners exhibit uncertainty regarding their desires.

According to Mr. Sylvester Emmanuel, the legal representative for Ardo, it was said that the petitioner intends to submit a petition in order to challenge and reverse the decision.

In response to the tribunal's verdict, Mrs. Kaletapwa George-Farauta, the deputy governor of Adamawa, characterized it as a triumph for democratic principles.

The individual expressed that despite the existence of the petition, the administration of Governor Fintiri would persist in displaying generosity in their triumph and urged the petitioners to collaborate with the government in the construction of a new Adamawa.

In the primary and subsequent re-run election conducted in Adamawa, Fintiri emerged as the victor, while Madam Aisha Dahiru, commonly known as Binani, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), secured the position of first runner-up.

In both the initial election and the subsequent rerun, the governor received a combined total of 430,861 votes, whereas the APC candidate garnered 398,788 votes.
