According to the health ministry, a significant fire broke out at a police headquarters in the city of Ismailia, Egypt, on Monday, October 2. The incident resulted in injuries to a minimum of 38 people before the fire was successfully extinguished.


According to a police spokesperson, a portion of the people who sustained injuries received medical attention at the incident location, while the remaining people were subsequently transferred to a medical facility.

According to officials, the precise cause of the fire at the building in Ismailia was not immediately ascertainable.


A minimum of 50 ambulances and two aircraft were dispatched to the location.

According to the health ministry's report, out of the 26 people who were brought to a nearby hospital, 24 of them had experienced "asphyxiation" and the remaining two had sustained burns. An additional twelve individuals received medical attention at the location.


According to a statement from the Ministry, Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfik has initiated an inquiry into the factors contributing to the fire incident. Additionally, he has requested a comprehensive evaluation of the building's structural integrity, referred to as a "structural safety review."
