A 34-year-old man was penalized for allegedly attacking a police officer.
On Friday, the police presented Suluka Segun, a 34-year-old man, to the Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates' Court, charging him with the alleged offense of attacking a police officer.

The individual in question, who lacks a permanent residence, is currently undergoing legal proceedings for an alleged act of physical aggression.

According to the Police Prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, the defendant allegedly perpetrated the offense on September 29th, at approximately 10:00 a.m., specifically at Iyana Eminrin in Ado-Ekiti.

According to his statement, the individual in question allegedly engaged in an act of physical aggression and hindered the actions of a police corporal named Fagbelu Olaniyi. This purported assault resulted in harm to the corporal's right hand palm, which occurred during the performance of his official responsibilities.

According to Oriyomi, the offense committed is in violation of Section 187(b) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

The individual made a request to the court for a postponement of the proceedings in order to thoroughly examine the case documents and gather individuals who may provide testimony in support of their position.

The defendant, nonetheless, entered a plea of not guilty in response to the charge brought against him.

The defense counsel, Mr. Adeola Adesina, implored the court to consider granting bail to his client, assuring that there would be no violation of the bail conditions.

The defendant was granted bail in the amount of N60,000, along with one surety of equal value, as ruled by the Chief Magistrate, Mr. Bankole Oluwasanmi.

The presiding judge postponed the proceedings until November 17th in order to schedule a hearing.
