Why I like European leagues better than the NPFL - Okocha

Austin Jay Jay Okocha, the former captain of the Nigerian national football team, has acknowledged his inclination towards observing European leagues over the Nigeria Professional Football League.

Okocha made this statement during the English Premier League trophy trip in Nairobi, Kenya.

The ex-Bolton Wanderers midfielder expressed the opinion that the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) should enhance its level of quality in order to attract sponsors of high caliber.

The individual strongly encouraged the NPFL board to draw from the expertise and knowledge of European counterparts in order to identify areas for development and implement necessary changes.

The individual expressed their preference for watching Premier League matches on television over the Nigerian League, citing the greater appeal of the Premier League.

It is imperative that we engage in a comprehensive reevaluation of our current approach and allocate sufficient time to develop a strategy that enhances the appeal of our leagues.
