This information was provided to the media on Thursday in Abakaliki by Mr. Felix Gbolade, the NSCDC State Commandant in Ebonyi, who was introducing the suspects.
According to Gbolade, the suspects were detained on August 26 in Abakaliki as a result of information given by members of the Command's anti-vandalism section.
"The suspects were found in possession of steel, cables, and other building supplies utilized in the state for building roads and bridges.
"Investigations are ongoing, and at the conclusion of the investigation, the suspects will be charged in court," he continued.
The NSCDC commandant expressed sadness over how vandalism has interfered with the Federal Government's plans to give the populace adequate infrastructure.
The NSCDC is tasked with stopping this terrible trend, and to that end, it asks the public for vital information.
Gbolade pleaded with the populace to cease rewarding vandals, pointing out that they wouldn't damage infrastructure if there was no demand for the goods they stole.
He added, "I also caution vandals to change their ways because we will make Ebonyi uninhabitable for them.
On the other hand, one of the suspects said he did not vandalize any objects while speaking on the condition of anonymity.
"I'm a welder in Abakaliki, and one of my friends kept some materials in my shop because his own shop was out of room.
Because of this, he stated, "I was shocked when this security agency's employees raided my store and claimed the goods were stolen."
