The Nnamdi Azikiwe University Senate in Awka has committed to take severe action against any instructor who is discovered to have harassed female students sexually.


Prof. Charles Esimone, the institution's vice chancellor, had recently made the decision to install closed-circuit cameras in professors' offices.


However, other academics vehemently opposed the plan, citing the invasion of their privacy.


But on Wednesday, the University's Senate voted to take harsh action against teachers who were discovered to be pestering female students for sex. The Senate's decision was obtained by the Daily Post.


The Senate also issued a warning to students against provocative behavior and inappropriate clothing.


Sexual defilement of pupils in the offices was reported to the Senate, according to the Senate report that the iGONG was able to get.


"It was decided that the management should firmly abide by punitive actions in accordance with the University statutes in order to stop the terrible act.


Therefore, lecturers were warned not to engage in such behaviors or risk legal repercussions. Being prepared means being forewarned.


"Use of indecent attire in any form is prohibited in the University. Students and staff were asked to immediately change out of their offensive attire. If found guilty again, the punishment is one month of community service and expulsion, according to the resolution.


The Senate argued that all books must be offered in the library and spoke out against writers selling their books directly to students.
