The group expressed strong disapproval of the reported harsh treatment inflicted upon the Chawai people, stating, "We hereby express our deep concern to the general public, both domestic and international communities, as well as the modern and traditional media, regarding the recent increase in assaults on our community by unidentified armed individuals."
The statement expressed concern over the lack of success in the current leadership's attempts to address documented instances of retaliations and counter-attacks occurring in our region in recent times.
The researchers observed that there has been a recent increase in attacks in the Kigam Community and Angwan Magaji areas, both located in Kamaru Ward. These attacks, carried out by unidentified gunmen, resulted in the unfortunate loss of six lives and injuries to four individuals.
The organization urged governmental entities at various levels to address security matters with the utmost sincerity and honesty. The security heads were tasked with adopting a more proactive approach in addressing security concerns pertaining to the Chawai region.
Additionally, it is imperative to urge the indigenous population not to engage in vigilantism, but rather to persevere in their efforts to foster harmonious coexistence with others, even in the face of adversity.
"As individuals in positions of ethical leadership, we are committed to maintaining community involvement and fostering collaboration among various agencies and stakeholders. Our primary objective is to address the essential requirements necessary for the establishment of a sustainable peace within our Chiefdom, and to ensure that the desired outcome is successfully attained," the statement confidently affirmed.
