The government of Zamfara has implemented a prohibition on unauthorized mining operations.

The prohibition of illicit mining operations and the directive for law enforcement authorities to adopt rigorous measures against offenders have been implemented by Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State.

According to a statement issued by Suleiman Bala Idris, the media advisor to the Governor, it has been emphasized that the cessation of harmful activities is imperative in order to safeguard the lives of individuals residing within the State.

The speaker emphasized that security personnel had been instructed with stringent directives to proactively intervene and employ lethal force against those discovered participating in unlawful mining activities.

The implementation of the directive is important in order to safeguard the well-being and protect the interests of the residents of Zamfara, as well as to discourage potential perpetrators from engaging in such activities.

The rapid response mentioned also serves the purpose of granting the State Government complete authority over state resources and preventing acts that pose a threat to the well-being and assets of the populace.

The prevalence of banditry in Zamfara State is indisputably fueled by the illicit practice of mining. It is imperative that prompt and resolute measures be taken to mitigate this threat and reinstate tranquility and stability within our societies," he emphasized.
