The Adamawa government frees 344 prisoners from three prisons.
Three correctional facilities inside the urban Yola South and Yola North local government areas have seen a total of 344 convicts freed by the Adamawa State Government through its Jail Delivery Committee, or JDC.



The three correctional facilities housed a total of 1,475 inmates, including those who had been convicted and those who were awaiting trial.


After assessing their cases between September 10 and September 13, the JDC granted release to the convicts from the medium security detention facilities at Yolde Pate, Yola Old, and Jimeta.


The committee at the Yolde Pate New Medium Security Custodial Center, led by Chief Judge Justice Hapsat Abdulrahaman, released 223 out of 461 prisoners.


The committee at the Yola Old Correctional Center in Yola South released 58 of the 343 prisoners who were awaiting trial, gave bail to another 27, and released nine of the 110 prisoners who had been convicted and were serving varying prison terms.


The committee also liberated 23 prisoners at Jimeta Prison who were awaiting trial as well as five criminals.


Justice Abdulrahaman cautioned the released prisoners from resuming criminal activity.


According to INFOGONG , Adamawa State has the highest number of prisons in Nigeria, with 17 correctional facilities spread across 21 local government areas.
