Taraba local government elections feature participation from 18 political parties. In Taraba State, 18 registered political parties have expressed interest in running in the upcoming local government elections.

Philip Duwe, the head of the State Independent Electoral Commission,

who made this announcement on Tuesday during a meeting with the state's media leaders also said that more than 2,222,000 eligible voters would be participating in the process.

According to Duwe, the estimate of the number of registered voters in each senatorial district was used to arrive at the figure.

In order to produce the electoral materials required for the election, he continued, the TSIEC collaborated with the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC.

He claims that the Commission met with members of the registered political parties and determined on an appropriate election date during that meeting.

The Inter-Party Advisory Council's (IPAC) leadership would be overseeing the political parties during the entire process, the TSIEC chairman further confirmed.

TSIEC has signed an MOU with INEC, according to Duwe, who also declared that the Commission has sent guidelines to the political parties.

The local government elections, which are scheduled to take place on November 18, 2023, he claimed, will be made easier by the MOU.

Duwe stated that election materials would be made accessible to the 3,650 polling locations dispersed across the 168 electoral wards of the state as soon as it was time, reiterating the Commission's readiness to conduct a free, fair, and credible election.
