Subsidy removal: Akwa Ibom AAC rejects four bags of rice provided by the FG as a temporary solution
The African Action Congress (AAC) chapter in Akwa Ibom State has rejected four bags of rice that were allegedly supplied to it by the federal government as a temporary measure to soften the severe economic effects of the elimination of subsidies.

Elder Utip Etiebiet, the state's AAC chairman, claimed that the palliative arrangement was intentionally created "to mock and manipulate the intelligence of Nigerians."

Etiebet bemoaned the politicization of the palliative and how it was distributed across political party lines in the state.

Speaking in Uyo, the state capital, Etiebet said that the Inter-Party Advisory Council, or IPAC, which distributed the relief supplies, allowed the party to return its portion of the four sacks of rice it had received from the state government.

Etiebet claimed that IPAC has received a letter to that effect.

Etiebet declared: "Following the stance of my party, African Action Congress, AAC, that the Federal Government of Nigeria's palliative is a hoax, dishonest, and a dubious means of acting on the intellect of Nigerians, we now reject the rice offer of four bags that were made to the party.

"AAC is not a camp for refugees, and we never behaved indigently enough to merit four bags of rice being sent to the office. Since AAC is not a refugee camp, all of our members agree that they do not need to rely on palliative care to survive.
