Speaker Abbas laments flood victims in Lagos
The flood that hit several areas of the Kosofe Federal Constituency of Lagos State resulted in the death of one person, according to Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen.

The Speaker expressed worry that more than 2,000 individuals had been forced from their homes as a result of the flood in a statement provided by Musa Krishi, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.

According to iGONG, a residential structure with 500 rooms known as Agboye Estate, located on Oduntan Street in Ketu, in the Ikosi-Isheri LCDA of Lagos State, was damaged by the flood.

On Saturday, the structure collapsed as a result of hours of rain that most of the state had experienced.

In light of this, the Speaker urged the pertinent federal and state authorities to act right now to prevent a repeat of this situation.

Abbas pleaded with the NEMA to start making the necessary interventions for the displaced people right away.

The Speaker commended Hon. Kafilat Ogbara, Chairwoman of the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development, for providing refuge to the displaced people who reside in her district.

Ogbara reportedly provided a 10-bedroom duplex and boys' quarters, which acted as her constituency office, as part of her response to the disaster for the devastated families, particularly the children, to take sanctuary in.

The Speaker praised the lawmaker for leading by example and said the news of Ogbara's thoughtful act was pleasantly surprising.
