Shehu Sani warns against violence and advocates for the preservation of democracy during the NLC strike

Shehu Sani, a prominent human rights activist and former Senator representing the Kaduna Central Senatorial District in Nigeria, has expressed concern on the potential for violence in relation to an upcoming strike organized by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Tuesday.

Sani asserted that the resolution of all matters could be achieved via a democratic mechanism, emphasizing the imperative for Nigerians to refrain from employing violence as a means of advocating for their grievances.

In a message dispatched to INFOGONG on Monday in Abuja, the ex-legislator emphasized the importance of safeguarding the small advancements Nigeria has made through democratic means.

He expressed the opinion that it is important to maintain optimism and refrain from engaging in acts of violence. Preservation and sustainability of small advancements in our democratic process are vital.

Protests and strikes are integral elements of a democratic society, whereas acts of violence are not deemed acceptable.

In a previous report, it was stated by the Department of State Services (DSS) that they have purportedly discovered a scheme orchestrated by certain politicians to incite unrest throughout the nation, utilizing economic concerns as a pretext.

According to the Service, there were allegations of student mobilization, in conjunction with ethnic associations, to orchestrate violent demonstrations throughout the nation.

According to a statement released by the Service Spokesperson, Mr. Peter Afunanya, and subsequently provided to journalists on Monday, it was revealed that intelligence had been obtained suggesting the existence of a planned protest aimed at discrediting the federal government and several security agencies.

According to the speaker, the individuals responsible for the conspiracies have been identified by the relevant authority and are currently under careful surveillance.

Afunanya asserted that the aforementioned statement should be seen by the public as an authoritative disclosure indicating the existence of a scheme by specific entities to disrupt the stability of the nation, with reference to various economic concerns.

According to intelligence sources, it has been revealed that the individuals involved in the conspiracy encompass specific politicians who are actively recruiting student leaders, ethnic-based associations, youngsters, and dissatisfied groups for the next action.

In the interim, the authorities have successfully identified the individuals who are orchestrating the scheme, and have implemented continuous surveillance measures in their vicinity to dissuade them from instigating chaos inside the nation.
