SDP accuses Yahaya Bello of funding attacks on party members in the Kogi guber election
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has levied allegations against Governor Yahaya Bello, asserting his involvement in the instigation of assaults against its members in anticipation of the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Kogi State.

According to a report by iGONG Muritala Yakubu Ajaka, the flagbearer of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), is seen as one of the prominent contenders in the upcoming gubernatorial election.

During a press conference held in Lokoja on Wednesday, Isaiah Davies Ibele, the Director General of the Muri/Sam Campaign Council's New Media division, made an appeal to President Bola Tinubu, security agencies, and the international community to intervene and exert influence on Bello's actions.

Observing the escalating security situation in Kogi State, the prominent member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) expressed concern on the prolonged period of reduced salary received by workers in the state under Governor Bello's administration.

The individual in question is employing his position as Local Government Chairman to exert control and engage in acts of suppression and aggression against our followers. The international community should extend assistance to our cause, as the Social Democratic Party (SDP) remains resilient in the face of a malevolent government led by Governor Bello, whose history is marred by ineffective governance, thuggish behavior, oppression, and a lack of achievement.

The individual issued a challenge to the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Usman Ahmed Ododo, proposing a live debate. They maintained that the residents of Kogi State had firmly decided to remove the incumbent ruling party from power.

Moreover, Sheikh Ibrahim, a prominent leader of the SDP, expressed that the current circumstances have made it increasingly difficult for us to rest peacefully and be vigilant simultaneously. There have been reports of targeted acts of aggression resulting in fatalities among our followers in several locations within the Kogi East region, including Lokoja, Ankpa, Ugwolawo, Oforachi, Dekina Town, Umomi, Emewe Opada, and other areas.

The current successor being introduced by Yahaya Bello is perceived to be inferior in comparison to his own performance. The current political system does not resemble that of a banana republic. It is imperative that we cease residing in a state of apprehension inside our own jurisdiction.

A leader who is unable to fulfill financial obligations, ensure the safety of his constituents, and has contributed to the deterioration of Lokoja as a state capital, lacks the qualifications to introduce a candidate who will further exacerbate the challenges faced by the people of Kogi.

The concept of an election should not be likened to that of a battle. This pertains to the goods or services that an individual or organization possesses and offers for sale in the marketplace. The Kogi people have expressed their preference for Muritala Yakubu Ajaka as their desired candidate.

In response to the accusations, Kingsley Fanwo, the Commissioner for Information and Communication in Kogi State, emphasized that the primary focus of the government is to safeguard the entire populace of Kogi State, regardless of their political affiliations.

According to Fanwo, the absence of evidence renders allegations essentially meaningless. As a governing body, our primary focus and obligation lie in establishing a conducive atmosphere that facilitates the unrestricted pursuit of individuals' regular commercial activities.

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) can be characterized as a group of individuals who express their sorrow over their defeats rather than attributing them to any specific cause or individual action. We shall refrain from exalting them and shall not be enticed by their trivialities, blatant falsehoods, and absence of purpose.
