This occurs just a few days after Damilare Bello, a member of the Ogun State House of Assembly from the Sagamu 1 Constituency, was detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) in connection with the cult killings that left several people dead in Sagamu last weekend.
Since then, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in power and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in opposition have traded accusations about who is to blame for the ongoing cult conflicts in Sagamu.
On Sunday, the Commissioner of Police made a statement on a radio program on OGBC 2, Abeokuta.
We have developed a number of strategies to stop the tide, he said. Unfortunately, Sagamu experienced a recent eruption. I want to acknowledge that these individuals are not students nor partisans, but rather violent and wicked.
In addition to stating that Sagamu has returned to normal, he continued, "We want to put in a structure that would keep them (cultists) at bay for a reasonable number of years and possibly deter other youths from joining their fold."
Alamutu revealed that because cultism has turned into a significant threat to society, the command is collaborating with the judiciary to guarantee that cases are resolved quickly.
