Plan to stage violent protest in Nigeria discovered by DSS
On Monday, the Department of State Services (DSS) disclosed that it had detected intentions among certain factions in several regions of the country to organize and execute violent demonstrations.

According to a statement released by Peter Afunanya, the Public Relations Officer of the Department of State Services (DSS), the purpose of the violent demonstration is to undermine the credibility of the Federal Government and security agencies in relation to various socio-economic issues.

According to the statement, the intelligence assessments have revealed the involvement of specific politicians who are actively organizing various groups, including as student leaders, ethnic-based associations, youngsters, and unhappy individuals, for the intended course of action.

Afunanya observed that the Service has successfully identified the individuals who are leading the scheme, and has implemented continuous surveillance measures to discourage their actions that could potentially lead to widespread disorder across the nation.

Given the aforementioned situation, it is recommended that University Vice-Chancellors and Heads of Tertiary Institutions dissuade their students from participating in activities that have the potential to disrupt public tranquility.

Furthermore, it is recommended that parents and guardians should advise their children and wards, respectively, to abstain from engaging in detrimental behaviors or actions that are contrary to legal regulations and societal order.

The DSS acknowledges the government's commitment to addressing the various issues faced by the country. However, it cautions individuals who have intentions of undermining national security to reconsider their actions.

The statement emphasized the intention to take legal action against individuals and organizations involved in the malicious schemes.
