Osun court rejects royal families' request to halt Olufon's installation

A request to prevent the Osun State Government from installing a replacement to sit on the vacant throne of the Olufon of Ifon was denied by Justice Ayo Oyebiyi of the Osun State High Court in Osogbo.

The Odunolu Oluronbi and Oluyeyin royal families of Ifon offered the oral prayer.

According to information obtained by iGONG, the Oluyeyin and Odunolu royal families requested an injunction from the court to prevent the state government from moving on with the process of installing the new Olufon of Ifon.

While rejecting the order, Justice Oyebiyi recalled issuing a number of orders on the same topic.

He stated that one key factor in denying the order was "the absence of representatives of other interested parties in the matter in court."

Later, the court set a new date for hearing on the matter—October 12, 2023.
