One gets detained for damaging an IBEDC transformer.
Adewole Adekunle has been apprehended by the law enforcement authorities in Ogun State on charges of vandalizing and pilfering components from a power transformer owned by the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC).


On Friday, law enforcement authorities from the Owode Egba Police Division, Ogun State Command, apprehended the culprit and successfully retrieved the damaged transformer at Showo community, located along the Kobape axis of the Sagamu-Abeokuta expressway.


According to a statement made by Omolola Odutola, the police spokesperson in Ogun, the arrest of the individual was prompted by a complaint lodged by locals who provided information regarding the illicit activities of the gang within the community at approximately 04:30 am.


According to Odutola, the prompt response to the distress call was initiated by CSP Popoola Olasunkanmi, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Owode Egba Police Division. Consequently, one Adewole Adekunle, a male residing at 28, Eleko, Aja Lagos, was apprehended.


As to her account, further individuals affiliated with the gang sought refuge within a proximate thicket, relinquishing possession of a Volkswagen bus bearing a Lagos license plate, specifically EKY 202 YG, alongside its accompanying documentation.


According to the police spokesperson, several items were retrieved from the area, including an Itel phone, a single digger, a solitary chisel, eleven large spanners, twenty-five little bolts, a large pincher, a polythene bag holding garments, and a significantly damaged transformer.


She revealed that law enforcement is currently making swift efforts to locate additional individuals associated with the infamous vandals and apprehend them for potential legal action.


The individual further stated that the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Abiodun Alamutu, has issued an order for the prompt prosecution of the offender once investigations are finalized, with the intention of deterring potential vandals.


Alamutu issued a cautionary statement to individuals engaged in scavenging activities, advising them to refrain from trespassing on government-owned premises, as failure to comply may result in severe legal consequences.
