On Monday afternoon, Adedayo posted on his Facebook page to announce his arrest.
Adedayo claims that he was detained as a result of a petition that the state administration purportedly handed to the police.
"Son of guy is being escorted to Eleweran, Abeokuta, Ogun State Police CID. They assert that the state legislature filed a petition against me.
"If it comes to death, I take the patriarchs' example. "Ase di owo Olodumare!" [sic].
Adedayo was fired from his position after accusing Governor Dapo Abiodun of misusing council funds in a letter he sent to Chief Olusegun Osoba and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Prior to this, the Department of State Services held the former chairman in custody for almost three days after receiving a petition from the state administration accusing him of making inciting remarks.
A few days after Governor Abiodun threatened to hold him accountable for disparaging him, Adedayo was arrested on Monday.
"He (Adedayo) lied against me as the governor, lied against me as Dapo Abiodun, tarnished my reputation, and attempted to instigate the populace against the government, to name only two things. All of these accusations must be addressed one by one by Wale Adedayo, Abiodun had stated.
When contacted, Omolola Odutola, the police public relations officer in Ogun, claimed not to be aware of the arrest but promised to respond as soon as she is told.
