Man arrested by police after allegedly trying to kill a couple
On Friday, the Lagos Police presented before the court a 25-year-old individual named Issac Maforikan from Badagry, who stands accused of assaulting and attempting to do harm to a married couple.

The accused, whose place of residence is undisclosed, is being charged with three counts of assault, attempted homicide, and intentional destruction of property.


However, the defendant entered a plea of not guilty before the Badagry Chief Magistrates Court.


According to the prosecutor, ASP Clement Okuoimose, the defendant allegedly perpetrated the aforementioned offenses on April 20th at 10:00 a.m. Specifically, the incident occurred on Christ Army Avenue, situated along Egbede Road in Lagos State.

According to his statement, the accused made an attempt to cause harm to Chioma Uzoma and her spouse.


According to Okuoimose's statement, on April 16th at 12:01 pm, an incident occurred on Olokobi Shibiri Road in Ajangbadi, Lagos State. This incident resulted in the damage of a property belonging to Chioma Uzoma, which has been estimated to have a value of N1,500,000.


The defendant caused harm to several items belonging to the plaintiff, including apparel materials, fragrances, wines, show-glass, and creams, with an estimated worth of N1,500,000.


According to the prosecutor, the defendant made a threat to cause harm to Chioma Uzoma and her spouse by means of a firearm, all of which occurred on the same day.


According to Okuoimose, the accused engaged in an act of physical aggression towards an individual named Chigozie Uzoma, striking him on the head with a wooden stick affixed with nails, resulting in a significant laceration.


According to his statement, the accused allegedly endeavored to do harm to Uzoma by incorporating pulverized glass into the food that the latter was about to consume.


According to the speaker, the individual in question was apprehended and then transferred to the custody of law enforcement authorities for the purpose of legal proceedings.


The prosecutor asserted that the committed transgressions violated Sections 173, 230, and 457 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.


The presiding Chief Magistrate, Mr. Fadahunsi Adefioye, has exercised his discretion to issue bail to the defendant in the amount of N200,000, subject to the provision of two sureties who are able to meet the same financial requirement.


The directive was issued for one of the sureties to be a blood related of the defendant, while the other surety should be a religious leader.


He issued a directive stating that both sureties must provide proof of tax payment for a period of three years.


The presiding judge, Adefioye, postponed the proceedings to September 19th for the purpose of mentioning the case.
