Lawmaker calls for a thorough inquiry into the FUOYE student's slaying.
The condemnation of the barbaric murder of Módúpé Atanda, a student of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), has been expressed by Rep. Akin Rotimi, the spokesperson for the House of Representatives.


The aforementioned statement was released by Rotimi on Thursday in Abuja, wherein he called for a comprehensive investigation into the murder, aiming to hold the perpetrators accountable through legal means.


According to a report from NAN, Atanda, a student in their second year of study at the university, had departed to engage in academic pursuits during the evening of September 4th. However, subsequent to this occurrence, Atanda's whereabouts were officially deemed unknown.


According to the institution's authorities, the student who was previously reported missing was subsequently discovered deceased in a shallow burial site located on the university premises on September 6th.


The legislator, representing Ekiti North 1, specifically the Ikole/Oye Federal Constituency, has urged the government of Ekiti, pertinent security agencies, and community stakeholders to engage in a collaborative effort to identify and apprehend the perpetrators, ensuring their prosecution.


Rotimi emphasized the imperative of safeguarding the well-being and security of our kids, as well as all inhabitants within our communities, as a means of honoring the legacy of the deceased Atanda.


He urged those possessing pertinent information pertaining to the matter to reach out to the Nigeria Police Force in order to aid their investigative efforts.


The legislator remarked that the prompt restoration of a sense of security and the expeditious administration of justice can be achieved via the collaborative endeavors of the community.
