Kano's government claims that a tribunal judge insulted the late Mallam Aminu Kano.
The Kano State Government has charged Justice Benson Anya, a member of the panel of the state's Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, for disrespecting the late Mallam Aminu Kano.

The judge made "anti-red cap" remarks, according to the state government, because the late statesman's insignia was a red cap.

The tribunal reportedly declared the election of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, government led by Governor Abba Yusuf invalid.

Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the head of the NNPP, is followed by the Kwankwasiya, who are distinguished by their red caps.

Justice Anya's words were criticized by Kano State Commissioner for Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, who added that the remarks were "a direct affront to the People of Kano."

In fact, Justice Anya's comments were insults to the late Mallam Aminu Kano's character because we are his direct students and the red cap is both his and our group's symbol.

"The unfavorable words of Justice Anya were unknown to the superb Nigerian judiciary, which is home to individuals with a high level of moral character.

"There is no way you can come to Kano and mistreat the Mallam Aminu Kano red cap emblem, the Father of Democracy, and expect to get away with it. According to the NNPP leadership in Kano, we are bringing it up with the NJC, he stated.

Dantiye added, "We are confident that the verdict which is against the yearning and position of the people of Kano will not stand the test of time, but a temporary setback which we shall overcome." in reference to the tribunal's decision.

The commissioner further mentioned that the state government had carried on with its programs unaffected by the tribunal's decision.

He claims that one of the primary initiatives is the marriage program for more than 1000 widows.
