Kano: Tribunal judgement a joke, will be upturned at Appeal Court – Oguntoyinbo
Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, a senior member of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), called the Kano State Governorship Election Tribunal a "huge joke" for overturning Abba Kabir Yusuf's election as governor of the state.

He characterized the tribunal's decision as an outright injustice.

According to iGONG, the panel had declared Yusuf's victory invalid on Wednesday.

But he claimed that the Court of Appeal will overturn the tribunal's decision in his response.

The party's candidate for governor in Ogun State in 2023, Oguntoyinbo, claimed that the tribunal's ruling could not withstand the test of time.

These claims were made by the NNPP leader in a statement that was made available to iGONG on Thursday.

He took use of the occasion to urge Nigerians and residents of the state to maintain peace and follow the law.

He told Yusuf that the people were behind him and urged him to maintain his composure and carry on with the excellent deeds he has been carrying out in the state.

"The verdict is a complete joke. The people of Kano State deliberately gave Abba Yusuf the authority to rule the state, and only they have the power to revoke that authority. At the end of the day, the people's will will prevail.

"The reported judgment blatantly awarded the election to the APC Candidate, Nasiru Gawuna, invalidating the free, credible, and universally hailed fair election of our governorship candidate, Engr Abba Kabir Yusuf.

"To allow it to unfairly award the election result to the candidate of the ruling APC, the Tribunal unlawfully subtracted 165,663 votes from the governor's total before reaching this unjust judgment. By doing this, the Tribunal demonstrates its judgment that the APC candidate's vote total was sacred, he added.
