Kaduna judges five people guilty of fraud.

Victory James (also known as Michael Lan Rosales), Yunus Abdulwasiu (also known as Gloria Mathew), Miracle Osag (also known as Cynthiaray), Joshua Omotayo (also known as Christopher Wittland), and Anita Yusuf were all found guilty by Justice N.U. Sadiq of the Kaduna State High Court sitting in Kaduna of offenses bordering on obstruction and internet fraud.

They were detained in several Kaduna locations after information revealed that they had stolen from unwary victims' hard-earned money.

"That you, Miracle Osag (also known as Cynthiaray), sometime in July 2023 in Kaduna within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did commit an offence to wit: cheating by impersonation wherein you falsely presented yourself as one Cynthiaray on Instagram, an online social media platform, and in such assumed identity, cheated one John Morgan the sum of $120 Dollars (One Hundred and Twenty United States Dollars), and thereby committed an offence contrary to the provisions of section

"That you, Yunus Abdulwasiu (also known as Gloria Mathew), between January and April 2023 in Kaduna within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, obtained a total of $150 US ($150 US) from one Andrea Werner by posing as Gloria Mathew, a white woman from Portland, Oregon, via Facebook (a social media application), and thereby committed an offense contrary to Section 308 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law of 2017 and punished by imprisonment for

To the charges, they all entered guilty pleas. The prosecuting team, lead by M. Lawal, sought the court to convict the defendants as a result.

James, Osag, and Omotayo were found guilty and given sentences by Justice Sadiq of two years in prison with the possibility of a fine of N150,000.00 (one hundred and fifty thousand naira), while Abdulwasiu received a one-year term without the possibility of a fine. Anita Yusuf received a N20,000 fine.

The defendants must give the Federal Government of Nigeria all the tools they used to commit the crime.
