Infant discovered at Jigawa farm
On Sunday morning, a newborn baby that had been abandoned on a farm in Jigawa State's Gwaram Local Government Area was discovered to be alive.

A farmer working on his field discovered the infant boy inside a carton, and he immediately notified the village chief of Wurya in Gwaram Tsohuwa about the occurrence.

The infant was taken first to the Gwaram Local Government Divisional Police Officer and then to the hospital, where it was determined that he was healthy, according to Alhaji Tamaji Gwaram, the chairman's personal assistant.

He claims that when the infant was returned to the local government chairman, Zaharaddeen Abubakar, he was immediately asked for help finding a woman to take care of him.

Rukayya Aliyu, who offered to care for the infant, did so with the approval of her husband, Malam Aminu Abdul-Hamid, the district chief of Wurya.

Following this, the child was given the name Zaharadden, after the LGA chairman, and his new family also gave him the name Aminu, making his full name Zaharaddeen Aminu Gwaram.

Alhaji Tamaji Gwaram added that, at least until the conclusion of his term as the chairman of the Gwaram Local Government Area, the local government chairman has promised a monthly allowance for the caregiver in addition to other essential support.
