In Enugu, police kill three alleged members of IPOB and ESN and seize weaponry.
Three alleged members of IPOB and its militant branch, the Eastern Security Network, have been neutralized by the Enugu State Police Command in their hideouts in Ezioha Mgbowo in the Awgu Local Government Area.

Three pump-action firearms, ten machetes, and other incriminating items were also found by police agents.

The thieves were apprehended at around 2:15 am on Monday, according to a statement released by the command's spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, in Enugu.

According to reliable intelligence, a joint security force made up of Enugu State Command police officers, NPF Special Forces, and troops from the 82nd Division of the Nigerian Army in Enugu raided the IPOB/ESN subversive criminal members' hideout.

"The criminal elements were already working on strategies to carry out the state's illegitimate sit-at-home edict.

"Three of the hoodlums, who opened fire on the combined squad when they saw them, were neutralized, while several more managed to flee the gunfire with injuries ranging from light to serious.

For those who are running, there has been a vigorous manhunt, according to Ndukwe.

Kanayo Uzuegbu, the state's commissioner of police, complimented the combined team while assuring citizens of their protection and safety and urging them to conduct their legal business in the state.

The commissioner reaffirmed the police's and other security forces' sworn determination to continue the assault against violent, unrepentant criminals acting in any capacity.

Therefore, he urged everyone to report anyone they saw with gunshot wounds to the local police station.

He suggested that the law-abiding citizens of Enugu State continue to do so and to keep giving the police useful security and intelligence data.
