In Ebonyi, two auto thieves are detained as police dismantle a network.
Two suspected thieves were detained by Ebonyi State police on Wednesday for allegedly stealing automobiles from the state.

The suspects are Philip Pele from Isokoro in Delta State and Francis Oti from the Afikpo local government area.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, who spoke to reporters on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP, Ogbodo Augustina, the suspects are accused of stealing two vehicles with the license plates Ebonyi AKL 172 RN and Abuja GWA 753 DC.

According to iGONG, the suspects attempted to steal another automobile on Sunday but were unsuccessful. They left one of their phones inside the vehicle, which helped the police catch them.

Onome quoted the suspects as saying that the car-stealing gang was apprehended when one of them made a call using a phone he unintentionally left in the automobile.

The Hilux was found in one of the ESN camps after being abandoned in the Agba hamlet in the Ishielu local government, she claimed. We have found three automobiles thus far.

However, CP. Ogbodo issued a warning to the criminal elements, saying that she was prepared to make the state miserable for them until they stopped committing crimes or left the state.

Francis Oti, one of the suspects, said during questioning that the country's hardships were to blame for the theft, saying, "We were caught stealing people's cars. The Matrix and this Corolla were stolen. I stole cars because I was so hungry, he claimed.
