In Bauchi, gunmen abduct a police officer.
In Toro Local Government Area, LGA, of Bauchi State, gunmen have abducted one person who is thought to be an active police officer.

The tragedy occurs just a few hours after security forces successfully secured the release of 33 kidnapping victims in the state's Alkaleri LGA.

According to a source, the gunmen's incursion into Toro town on Friday night caused chaos.

After terrifying locals with random gunfire, the thugs allegedly kidnapped an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), a serving police officer.

Economic activity in Toro LGA has been impacted by kidnappers' actions since locals are reluctant to conduct business for fear of being kidnapped.

The representative for the Toro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, AIsmail Haruna Dabo, denounced the incident and urged restraint.

Given the nation's current economic predicament, he called the incident unpleasant and regrettable and told the populace that he would continue to use the legislative process to address the problem.

The public relations officer, SP Ahmed Wakili, did not answer calls, therefore attempts to gain a response from the Bauchi State Police Command failed.
