Governor Adeleke and his entourage are said to have escaped an air crash after their private jet caught fire.

Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun state, and his aides are said to have survived an airplane disaster after their private jet caught fire just before takeoff.

A Bombadier Global Express 6000 owned by multi-billionaire businessman Chief Adedeji Adeleke caught fire at takeoff at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, according to a Leadership report.

David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, is a singer. Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, is Chief Adeleke's brother.

At around nine in the morning on the mentioned date, the plane was set to take off from Lagos for Abuja when the fire incident apparently happened at the domestic wing of the airport. 

According to the allegation, the jet carrying Governor Adeleke and his aides was about to take off when a huge explosion was heard coming from the jet's engine, forcing it to quickly abort takeoff.

The report also stated that the jet had been parked at the Airport's Executive Jet hangar prior to the anticipated takeoff.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Executive Jets Sam Iwuajoku revealed that the Chief Adeleke's private jet suffered Foreign Object Damage (FOD), which caused the aircraft to experience excessive temperature and lead to the explosion. Executive Jets is the owners of the hangar where the private jet was kept.

At take-off, the engine had high temperature and it was caused by bird nest in one of the engines of the aircraft. It happened when an aircraft is parked and not properly covered so, birds will build their nest and anything they bring into the aircraft can spark high temperature." Sam Iwuajoku told the publication

It happened to one of my aircraft in 2021, we had to remove the engine and the engine was in Germany for 14 months. So, it’s a common thing in Africa because we have birds around,” he stated
